What do we want for our town?

Referendum on the St Neots Neighbourhood Plan

St. Neots folk often seem to have little influence over decisions made by the District Council and that can be very frustrating, especially when it appears that HDC favours Huntingdon.  But it's no good moaning and taking no action!

GET OUT AND VOTE ON 4TH FEBRUARY

ST NEOTS STANDS TO LOSE OUT ON A GOOD DEAL OF DEVELOPMENT MONEY IF THE PLAN IS NOT ADOPTED

The question that will be asked in the referendum is:

"Do you want Huntingdonshire District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for St Neots to help it decide on planning applications in the neighbourhood area?"

If a majority 'Yes' vote is achieved all planning applications within St Neots will be measured against the vision and objectives set out in the St Neots Neighbourhood Plan – a document which was created through consultation with the residents of St Neots. Not only will this ensure that the people of our town have greater control over planning policy, it will also bring more money into the town through an increase in the taxes placed upon new developments.

A community infrastructure levy charged on new developments is currently 15%, this rises to 25% where a Neighbourhood Plan is in place.

With the huge amount of extra housing planned for St Neots this means a lot of extra cash/facilities that will directly benefit the town.
